PDT/Levulan

Photodynamic Therapy along with the use of Levulanic Acid is great for treating moderate to severe cystic acne due to hormonal imbalances, overactive sebaceous glands, and/or bacteria. Levulan (a safe acid naturally produced by the body) activates the bacteria to be destroyed and shrinks the sebaceous gland so less oil and sebum is produced.

Photodynamic therapy is also used for skin resurfacing with aging, hyperpigmented, and/or sun damaged skin. With a few short treatments, wrinkles and spots can be eliminated and redness will diminish. We use photodynamic therapy on the face, décolleté, hands, shoulders, arms, or anywhere spotted, sun-damaged skin appears.

A treatment involves the application of a stick of Levulanic acid (this is pain free), an incubation period of rest, and then a session under the Blue-U light.
